PiĹa is abundant in small, wood-locked, clean lakes. PĹotki Lake situated in the north-eastern part of the town, is most popular in summer time. Every year thousands of PiĹa inhabitants and tourists from all over Poland are using its bathing beach and summer resorts. From PiĹa's centre, along Kossaka Str. there is a beautiful bicycle trail. Near PĹotki Lake there are two smaller lakes - Bagienne and Jelenie. Similar lakes: Piaszczyste and LeĹne are situated in the forest, south-west of the town, next to the road to Trzcianka. In the northern part of PiĹa, at both sides of the waĹecka bypass (national road No 10), there is the biggest and youngest PiĹa's lakes - Zalew Koszyce (Koszyce Reservoir). It was established at the turn of the 70s and 80s by filling the swamped valley with the Rudnica River damped-up waters. Nearby there are other natural bodies of water surrounded by woods: Rudnickie Lake and MaĹy /Small/ and DuĹźy/Big KuĹşnik. They are part of the KuĹşnik reserve with some relict plants and many water sources with a characteristic dark brown and red colour due to iron compounds. All these lakes apart from the KuĹşnik reserve are generally accessible fisheries. |
